Nagareyama city in Chiba Prefecture adopted its emblem: 19 March 1957 by Notice No 8-2.
The emblem symbolizes stream of the Edo river.
No flag legislation but thsy use above flag in practice: flag proportion: 2:3; colour of field: white; colour of emblem: red; diameter of emblem: 3/5 flag height

The emblem consists of a cirlce containing a vertical wavy line like a stream adorned with a square U shape.

According to the page Nozomi mentioned and the notice, the emblem is a symbol of the Edo River and the nature of running along the river, a stylised water current (the 流 of Nagareyama) is abbreviated according to a dictionary of characters used in seals, showing the main current of the Edo River. This is combined with a mountain (山 yama) in the centre, made into an ornament for the water of the current, to make a shape expressing Nagareyama City.

The idea of grass (presumably the two thin red lines next to the upper right and lower left sides of the stream), saying 艸 (kusa: grass, plants), represents a city producing goods (sake, etc.) from agricultural products from ancient times. The stream in the middle (in bold) expresses the cooperation of all the city's people. The enclosing circle strongly depicts peace of all the city's people.
