Located in Nara City Nara Prefecture and established in 1990.
The embroidered ceremonial flag has dark red background with a gold emblem and vertically written in gold, kanji university name in gold fringe. The university flag has white background with a vermilion, green and purple symbol mark in the center and horizontally written in black, Chinese characters and the university name in English. (Source) There is a variant of the logo flag without text.
The university emblem is a design of the word "大學" in an arabesque pattern.Based on the emblem of the university, which was designed by Mamoru Okajima, a first-year student of Nara Prefectural Junior College, the predecessor of the university on February 1,1955.
The logo mark of "Nara Prefectural University" was designed using the image of the arabesque pattern, which is said to have been introduced via the Silk Road, as the character for "NARA." The green and vermilion colors used in rhetoric in praise of the capital of Nara in Japanese poetry and purple, the highest rank color on the Twelve Steps of the Crown, were used to express the logo mark of a prefectural university appropriate for a "supreme academic institution. The creator of the logo mark is Koji Kinutani, Professor Emeritus of Tokyo University of the Arts and Visiting Professor of Nara Prefectural University.
