Floreşti is located on river Răut, 130 km of Chișinău. The town was first
mentioned in 1588.
The arms of the town are canting, highlighting the
etymology of Floreşti based on "flower" (Romanian, "floarea", plural, "flori").
The most accepted etymology alludes to a picturesque hill called Rediul Florilor.
The local etymology alludes to the numerous flowers found on the river's bank
where the town was built.
