Presentation of Tearce

The municipality of Tearce (in Albanian, Tearcëe; 22,454 inhabitants; 136.54 sq. km) is made of the town of the same name (3,974 inhabitants) and of the 12 settlements of Glogji (Gllogjë 1,295 inh.), Dobrošte (Dobrosht; 3,549 inh.), Lešok (Leshkë; 440 inh.), Neproštelo (Nepreshten; 1,309 inh.), Nerašte (Nerasht; 3,485 inh.), Odri (Odër; 1,739 inh.), Pršovce (Përshefcë; 2,516 inh.), Slatino (Silatinë; 4,112 inh.), Brezno (Breznë; 8 inh.), Varvara (Varavarë; 0 inh.), Jelošnik (Jelloshnik; 0 inh.) and Prvce (Përc; 27 inh.). The inhabitants of the last four settlements, labelled "hilly-mountainous" settlements, were forced to resettled in 2001.

Flag of Tearce

The flag and arms of Tearce (municipal website) are prescribed in the municipal Statutes Statuti i Komunës ë Tearcës, adopted on 28 May 2007.

The flag is described in Article 7 of the Statutes, as follows:

The field of the flag of Tearce is blue. A golden stripe goes down from the upper left corner to the lower right corner of the flag. The municipal emblem is placed in the center of the flag. The proportions of the flag are 1:2.

The emblem is described in Article 6 of the Statutes, as follows:

The colour of the border is gold (ngjyré). The date of 20 December 1996 is the founding date of the municipality [by separation from Tetovo]. The three peaks symbolize the three higher mountains in the municipality. I understand that the four dots on the mountains represent four "hilly-mountainous" settlements while the nine remaining ones are represented by the nine, in turn white and grey boxes forming a wavy ribbon in the center of the shield. The green and brown stripes recall that agriculture is the main activity in the municipality.
The lower part of the shield forms a "T" recalling the initial of the name of the municipality.

The flag of the village of Pršovce / Përshefcë (), is in proportions 5:9, horizontally divided green-white-yellow.
Green represents the mountains. White is the main colour of the national dress. Yellow represents the countryside, especially the golden, ripe grain fields.

Flag of KFJP football club - Image by Ivan Sache, 7 December 2008

The flag of the football club "KF Jehona Përshefcë", blue with the club's badge in the center, shown with proportions 1:2, is described as follows:
Klubi parimisht ka luajtur me fanella në ngyrën kaltër, pastaj e kemi të vendosurë një stemë të klubit me ngyrat e fshatit sidhe nje fytyrë qe symbolizonë Jehonën, viti 1996 është themelimi i klubit.
With the same caveat emptor, it seems to say that blue is the jersey colour of the club (or was, now they seem to play with green jerseys with white vertical stripes and yellow collar, thus using the village colours), 1996 its foundation date, and the emblem in the middle shows "Jehona's face". Jehona is an Albanian feminine name meaning "echo"; the woman represented on the badge might be nymph Echo.

Flag of Pršovce folkloric society - Image by Ivan Sache, 7 December 2008

The flag of the folkloric society "Shka 'Jehona' Përshefcë" is diagonally divided red-black by a thin yellow ascending diagonal, with the name of the society in white letters in a semi-circular pattern, placed above three music instruments, a string and wind instruments crossed per saltire above a drum. It is described as follows:
Ngyrat e kombësisë, sidhe në instrumente të cillat përdoren në kët lami.
The string instrument is a çiftelia, traditionally used in northern Albania and Kosovo. Usually made of cherry tree bark, the instrument has two strings (çiftë, "couple"; tel, "string").
The wind instrument is most probably a zurna, a double-reed instrument of Turkish orign.
The drum may be a lodra, a double-headed drum of Turkish origin, mostly known as davul.
