At the start of the year of 2022, the flag of Tecate was raised in front of the municipal palace. In this article, the municipal president expressed his hope in putting Tecate first, and in rebuilding the municipality to be as high as the flag flying in the morning of the first day of January.

It appears that Tecate is mostly flagless; it only flies this flag outside of the municipal council building on rare occasions.

Coat of Arms

from Twitter

It appears the coat of arms was not published in the official newspaper of the state; all that is known is that it was adopted in the early '70s before 1973. The painter of the coat of arms is M.A. Camacho (Marco Antonio or Miguel Angel). According to the municipal government:

The coat of arms of Tecate is represented in its superior part by the sun which symbolizes progress of the primitive peoples and society today; inside of this is a cog from machinery which represents the industrial wealth of this locality. On each side of the coat of arms, there is a cluster of grapes, a symbol of agricultural wealth of the region. In the border is a legend which says "Tecate paraíso industrial de B.C." [Tecate, industrial paradise of Baja California]. In the interior appears the Cuchumá Hill, named by the primitive peoples of the region as Cu-Ma, which means "sacred hill". Next to it, an oak tree (siñao) is presented above a cave for stone-related sustenance (Wi-uj-ja) which symbolizes the first habitations of the Kumeyaay Indians of the region. To the right of this is a vineyard with olives and vines, which represent the original intent of man to dominate these lands. At the left of the cave, the head of a bull symbolizes the cattle-raising of the region. At the very bottom of the coat of arms, 1833 is read, the year the Tecate Ranch was granted to Juan Bandini.
