Overview

"The NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan (NTM-A) is a multinational military organisation, activated in November 2009, tasked with providing a higher-level training for Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), which include the Afghan National Army (ANA), the Afghan National Police (ANP) and the Afghan Air Force (AAF), including defense colleges and academies, as well as being responsible for doctrine development, and training and advising Afghan National Police (ANP). The commanding officers, is dual-hatted and commands both NTM-A and Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan (CSTC-A) and reports to Commander ISAF. NTM-A trains, advises, and assists ANSF training literacy and medical capabilities in order to support the creation of a capable and enduring force that protects the Afghan population and denies safe havens to the insurgency. The decision to establish the NTM-A was taken by heads of state at the Strasbourg-Kehl Summit in April 2009. The mission was formally activated on 21 November 2009. NTM-A supports the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and United States Forces - Afghanistan (USFOR-A) to enable accountable, Afghanistan led security not later than 31 December 2014.
Additionally, NTM-A works in close cooperation with the Afghan government and G8 partners for ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) development to field and sustain a professional Army, synchronize Police Reform at the district level, and execute NATO's ANA Trust Fund (for ANA), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Law and Order Trust Fund for Afghanistan (for ANP), and other financial conduits for the International Community to support the long-term sustainment of the ANSF.

The Flag

There's this picture (Source: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.364401654552.187316.267816944552&type=3) published on February 24, 2010, which shows, from left to right, the actual flag labeled as UFE 12-66 ( ufe12c.html#12-66 ) fourth flag from left to right. Also, one can see in this picture a rather particular NATO flag (third flag from left to right), showing the NATO logo in what seems to be the outline of the map of Afghanistan in white. There's also another flag that has the same pattern, seen here: http://article.wn.com/view/2014/01/16/Air_chief_praises_progress_during_first_Afghanistan_visit_Ro This is then supposed to be the first version of the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan.
