Martinair Holland N.V. was founded as MAC, Martin's Air Charter and it operates as Martinair. The airline was founded on May 24, 1958. The name was changed to Martinair Holland in 1966 and then in 1991 it was changed to Martinair Cargo. In 1996, Martinair bought a 40% stake in Colombian cargo carrier TAMPA Cargo (now called Avianca Cargo, a subdivision of Avianca) which it increased to 58% in 2003. The share in TAMPA was sold in February 2008 to Avianca. By December 31, 2008, it was under control of KLM.
