The blue field refers to the water of the Berkel River, the brown floats

Adopted by municipal resultion on 22 Novenmber 2005
Stefan Lambrechts, 25 July 2006
Berkelland is named after the small river Berkel, which has been "restored"
by common efforts in the Netherlands and Germany. This inspired the studio
Stijlgenoten
in Den Ham to design a logo representing the wheel of a watermill. Part
of this logo was used on the municipal flag.
It looks a bit unusual, but possesses the qualities of a good flag:
simple, used symbolism (stylized waterwheel), two colors, no text or coat
of arms, and unique.
Stefan Lambrechts, 10 January 2005
A great flag! Artistic and original...
