Esch (former municipality)
Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.flagchart.net
This flag was approved by the municipal council on 30 January 1973;
adopted as village flag 9 Oct 1997.
The flag of Esch was adopted by council decision on January 30, 1973 as the municipal flag of the North Brabant municipality of Esch.
The flag is described in the council decision as follows:
Three stripes of blue, yellow and blue, the lengths of which are 1:1:2; the stripes are placed vertically and the ratio of height and length of the flag is set as 2:3, in accordance with the dimensions of the Dutch flag.
A drawing of the flag was included. The colors are taken from the municipal coat of arms.
The municipal council had received two proposals from the Supreme Council of Nobility to replace the 1935 marching flag used until then as a municipal flag, of which this was one. The other flag proposal was a yellow ash tree on a blue field.
The flag was first hoisted at the town hall during the Sinterklaas arrival in 1973.
On January 1, 1996, the municipality of Esch was merged into Haaren, which meant that the flag as a municipal flag was abolished. On October 9, 1997, the flag was adopted as the village flag for Esch. On January 1, 2021, the municipality of Haaren was dissolved and divided among surrounding municipalities, with Esch being added to Boxtel.
