Zeekadetkorps Nederland is a maritime organisation whose main purpose is to
make Dutch youth enthusiastic for sea and ships. And even for a job at sea, if
possible. It was founded shortly after WWII with the British Seacadetcorps as an
example. In several places in the Netherlands is a local Seacadetcorps. Most of
them possess their own vessel, in many cases a redundant navy vessel. The
organisation is based on the style of the Royal Dutch Navy which can be seen by
the uniforms of the youngsters and the ranks on board. There are also officers,
petty officers but also civilian instructors. Nowadays the Seacadetcorps is also
open to girls. The youngsters are trained in all kinds of skills connected with
a job at sea. But the most appreciated of a sea cadet is to sail with their own
vessel on the rivers, lakes and canals of the Netherlands. Each corps has its own flag,
where the coat of arms of the town where the corps is homebased is depicted.

The current flag is an off-centred cross in Dutch colours (red-white-blue) on a
white field, and in cross position an orange disk with a blue sailing ship.

An earlier flag used an orange square instead of an orange disk.
