I am a bit confused about this one, concerning the use of capitals. In some sources, the word 'post' is all in capitals, in other sources only the first letter is. Not sure what is correct.

I found a photograph in our newspaper of the Norwegian Post flag on a post ship. The letters are all in capitals.

Variant of Ensign

Norwegian Mail ensign is a Norwegian split flag with a white rectangle containing a royal crown over a yellow inscription "POST" fimbriated black. I spotted this flag on the sail from Malmö to Copanhagen in August 1996. Though connecting the Danish capital with a Swedish city, surprisingly there was a Norwegian ensign upon the stern. My image is based upon the custom ensign, painted by Željko. Just the shade of red is slightly darker.

This flag is used on all vessels carrying post, and that practically means all the ferries from the mainland to islands.

Some tall ships carry mail (mostly for collectors, they have a special cancellation stamp).

I found my notes from an occasion here in Bergen a couple of years ago at which the three Norwegian tall ships were all in the inner harbour of Bergen. At that occasion Sorlandet of Kristiansand flew the plain Norwegian civil ensign, Statsraad Lemkuhl of Bergen flew the yacht ensign and Christian Radich of Oslo flew the post ensign.

On our page it says the ensign of the ship is the Norwegian naval ensign. It is not, it is the Norwegian ensign for mail carrying vessels, as seen here. I know I have pointed this out before. It also seems to make more sense, doesn't it?
