Flag of Chitré; the capital of the province of Herrera. Flag
approved in January 2000. I made this flag out of a picture of a
real flag, so it is not entirely exact in proportions.
J.J.Andersson, 19 June 2002
The flag is very close to the provincial flag of Herrera, which is an horizontally divided
blue-white 3:5 flag. Chitré flag seems also to be 3:5.
Ivan Sache, 19 June 2002
The district and city of Chitre is in Herrera province. The
province adopted the Chitre colors as provincial colors (without
stars). According Flag Report 27 the stars mean the five
corregimientos of the district. Exist a variant with the three
upper stars in semi-circle. Before this flag (dates unknown), the
district has same flag but with three stars (two above one below)
because they were only three Corregimientos.
Jaume Ollé, 12 January 2004
From the image available at <www.chitrenet.com>,
located by Javier Blake, the stars seem to be all on the
same line and have the same orientation.
