A 2001 proposal
image by Chrystian Kretowicz, 25 January 2002
Claiming that white and red colors are outdated, obsolete and not relevant
in present day's reality, Gdansk's artist, Grzegorz Klaman, is proposing
a new flag for the Polish III Republic - white and red separated by the
black band to symbolise the mourning for high expectations, dreams of better
future and bombastic promises of the politicians of various orientations.
The flag was first hoisted in downtown Cracow on March 15th, 2001 during
the art exhibition on "Cold War"
Chrystian Kretowicz, 25 January 2002
Is the Red supposed to be on top, upside down in distress?
Dean McGee, 25 January 2002
Yes, I forgot to add it, that was the intention of the artist.
Chrystian Kretowicz, 26 January 2002
The proposal for the flag of Poland from 2001 by the artist Grzegorz Klaman
included 5 versions of the Polish flag instead of just the one shown above,
promoting black as the third Polish national color, in different versions:
1. Black / white / red.
