Wądroże Wielkie rural district flag
Wądroże Wielkie - rural commune, Jawor County, Dolnośląskie Voivodship
- former German name: Groß Wandriß.
Commune Council's resolution # XI/46/03 dated October 29, 2003 says,
among other things:
"The Arms of the Commune of Wadroze Wielkie are placed on the medieval
shield, known as the "old French".
The Great Arms of the Commune: On the gothic shield of the green color,
the golden romanesque portal existing at the southern wall of the nave
of the medieval church of Saints Peter & Paul (presently of Our Lady
of Rasary).
That portal is an expression of the great historical value of the object,
which dates back to second quarter of the XIII Century and is the oldest
on the territory of the commune. The green background of the shield underscores
the agricultural character of the commune.
That portal, open to the inside of the silver color is the background
for the main element of tha Arms - the eagle of the Swidnik-Jawor Principality
from the time of the rule of Bolek I, modeled after the headstone of the
tomb in the mausoleum in Krzeszów.
The princely eagle, red and black, divided vertically, with the white
crescent on its breast and wings was the symbol of this region up to the
end of the rule of Bolek II, known as "Small".
Above is a red princely crown outlined in gold. Below is a golden wheat
stalk lying on the red carpet.
This is to emphasize the importance of the agricultural tradition and
the contemporary specialty of the commune, which has 86% of its territory
under cultivation.
The supporters are two unicorns standing tall and having fishtails
in place of hoofs. Upper part of their bodies are black, the lower - silver.
These mystical animals are from the Coat of Arms of Niemptsch, as depicted on
the plate in the church in Kosiski.
At the top of the Great Arms there is a golden ribbon with the name
of the commune written in green letters.
There is also a basic version of the Arms, called 'small' , used without
the unicorns and the ribbon.
The flag of the commune is in the colors of the Arms - green is a color
of the shield, gold and red of the Arms.
Color green forms the bottom zone of the flag, gold (yellow) the middle
one and red is at the top."
