Opoczno County adopted its Coat of Arms on 27 October 2004 by county law "Uchwala Nr XXIII/130/2004 Rady Powiatu w Opocznie z dnia 27 pazdziernika 2004 r w sprawie ustalenia herbu powiatu opoczynskiego".
Three years later - on 26 November 2007 - a flag was adopted. The coat of arms was modified and simplified.
