Milanówek - urban commune, Grodzisk Mazowiecki County, Mazowieckie Voivodship.
Milanówek is a fancy suburb of Warsaw with a lot of interesting architecturally
villas of well-to-do residents. In 1920, a natural silk factory was open,
first on the experimental scale, later becoming an industrial enterprise.
During the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, offices of the Underground Government
were moved there, making Milanówek an unofficial capital of the Polish
Secret State. City rights were bestowed on Milanówek in 1951. After the
fall of communism, the town regained its splendor and is a prestige address
for many celebrities and personalities.
Arms and flag were adopted on June 10, 1997 (resolution # 157/XLVI/97)
and confirmed on August 30, 2005 (resolution # 303/XXVI/05).
Authors of the city's symbols are Father Paweł Dudziński (heraldist)
and local artists: Włodzimierz Mońka and Krzysztof Rychter.
"Arms: a shield divided vertically into two parts. On the right field,
blue, there is a silver horseshoe, topped with a golden Maltese cross,
and, inside the horseshoe, silver arrow with the arrowhead pointing downwards.
On the left field (yellow) there is a green oak leaf. The horseshoe with
the Maltese cross and arrow comes from the Coat of Arms "Dołęga" to which the founder
of the town, Count Michał Lasocki, belonged. The oak leaf symbolizes the
natural beauty of the area.
Flag: a rectangular piece of cloth in the ratio 5:8 divided into four
fields. First field (yellow) features an oak leaf (placed vertically),
second and third fields are blue and the fourth one - white. Colors of
the flag correspond to those of the Arms.
Flag of Milanówek is always vertical in its form.
