In early XVII Century a terrible epidemic overwhelmed the town. It run
its course very quickly and the residents credited the God for taking care
of them, hence the appearance of the Eye of Providence in the symbol of
the town.
Then, in 1920, the onslaught of the the Bolshevik armies was stopped
at the outskirts of Radzymin by the sheer heroics of the undermanned Polish
Army and civilian volunteers, thus, saving Poland and entire Europe from
being overtaken by the Red Terror. Once again, the people of Radzymin and
all Poles, were convinced
of the divine intervention of the Allmighty, of the Eye of Providence
watching over them.
In addition, the day of the victorious battle was also a day of the
Ascent of Virgin Mary, holiday dear to all Poles (August 15). The battle
itself acquired the name of "The Miracle on Vistula" and, in 1936, the
Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed officially the Eye of Providence
as a Coat of Arms of Radzymin, saved twice by the Grace of the Almighty.
