The Flag

I located a flag at "pueblos-de-puertorico" site (defunct) ; same flag to be found on the Lexjuris site. This city is in Guayama District, southeast Puerto Rico.
Jarig Bakker , 26 January 2000

The flag of Arroyo in "pueblos-de-puertorico" site is very badly drawn, being orange over black with the seal in the middle (not the one depicted). Arroyo flag has two horizontal bands of equal size. The orange and black colors keep alive a past filled with adventure and accomplishment. The Coat of Arms goes at the center of the flag.
Blas Delgado Ortiz, 6 Febuary and 6 April 2001

I have seen the flag flown without the Coat of Arms's scroll and with a more standard mural crown, very similar to the Lexjuris version. Ratio is 2:3.

Coat of Arms

by Nelson Román, 21 July 2004

The municipal authorities officially approved this shield on the 31st of March, 1970. The Old Church in ruins: represents the historical monument where Arroyo began. The scapulary: symbolize the patron saint, Virgen del Carmen (Virgin Carmen).
The "guajanas" flowers: remember the sugar cane of Arroyo and the Sugar central station of Lafayette. The telegraph posts: symbolize the installation of the telegraphic line by the inventor Samuel B. Morse. The sea and the fish: represent the fishermen and the fishing industry of the town. The old tower: symbolizes the patriotics fights of the arroyans in the "Sierrita". The landscape in green: the vegetation of Arroyo. The mural crown with 3 towers because Arroyo is a Town. This symbolizes protection and union of the citizens. The banner with the municipality name Arroyo and his nick name Pueblo Grato (Pleasing Town).
Nelson Román, 21 July 2004
