The Flag

This is the new official flag of Barrio Turabo, Caguas, Puerto Rico approved by the Assembly and the Municipality of Caguas. The background color of the flag is a ligth blue with the original Turabo flag centered in a shield over crossed with the Taino's arrows, same as the Caguas flag.
Juan Colón De Jesús, 22 March 2001

All the flags of the barrios of Caguas are a modified version of the city flag, with each barrios' shield replacing the central city shield and the field color of a very light shade of either blue, green or cream (this last color not so sure of). The original Turabo flag was designed by Mr. Juan Colón de Jesús. A masonry wall with the name Barrio Turabo and a flag post are just waiting for the real colors.

This is the flag of the Barrio Turabo of Caguas. As I wrote before, the flag that was designed by Juan Colón de Jesús was placed on a central shield over golden crossed arrows as in the city flag. The field is a very light blue.
Blas Delgado Ortiz , 24 March 2001

Its background color is said to be "blue flower", a kind of very light blue. The Assembly changed the triangle color very recently from the original orange shade to a brownish-red brick color.

Previous (Unofficial ?) Flag

image by Juan Colón de Jesús, 18 May 2000

The flag of the Barrio Turabo (a ward or community of the City of Caguas, Puerto Rico) was designed by Mr. Juan Colón de Jesús and approved by the Municipality of Caguas, Puerto Rico on November 22, 1997.

Description:

1. The orange color of the first triangle on the flag represents the "clay" of the valley of Turabo in Caguas, Puerto Rico and symbolizes the original name of the first settlement "San Sebastían del Barrero"

2. The arrow tip of the white triangle symbolizes the "Cacique Caguax" (Taíno Indian Chief) of the valley of Turabo, Caguas, Puerto Rico.

3..The wide yellow band represents the light of the sun, the industry and the urban zone of the ward.

4. The narrow blue band symbolizes the Turabo River (and also represents the blue field of the Caguas flag).

5. The wide green band represent the mountains and the rural zone of the community, and the hope in the future.

6. The yellow and white colors symbolize the faith and the harmony of the inhabitants of the "barrio" (ward) community.
Juan Colón de Jesús, 18 May 2000

The flag design presented by Mr. Juan Colón De Jesús was chosen as the winner entry to represent the rural community or "barrio" of Turabo. But the Assembly of the Municipality of Caguas decided by law long ago that each particular design will be placed as a central shield over crossed arrows, in a design identical to the present Caguas and Bairoa flags.  I do not have the information of the background color of this flag. I have all the official shields of each barrio, except San Salvador's, which is at present under a redesigning process.  All of them are placed in the central shield.  What changes is the color of the flag.   At this moment, only the flags of Bairoa, Turabo, and San Antonio are flying, and each was respectivelly introduced in this same order.  The Turabo flag is not yet official and has not been flawn.
