Overview

This city of 29,436 inhabitants was founded in 1815. The colours come from the CoA. The yellow colour represents metal [gold, I suppose] and the design refers to the five slopes characteristic of the urban profile of the settlement.
Thanh-Tâm Le', 13 January 1999

Gurabo is in east central Puerto Rico in a lake area.
Jarig Bakker, 1 Febuary 2000

The correct flag of Gurabo, Puerto Rico consist of a green field with five stairways in yellow. The green colour simbolizes the green mountains and hills of the town, also the rich and abundant of the vegetation. The yellow colour represent the faith and the integrity of his people, also simbolizes the rays of the sun over the fields of Gurabo. Gurabo is best known for its quaint stairways leading up to the hilltop of the town; but that is just one of many attractios like the  Puerto Rico modern Polices Academy (and campus of John Jay College of Criminal Justice),  the respected Universidad del Turabo and others. Gurabo, originally called  "Burabo" was a remote and negleted towship of the Municipality of Caguas, Puerto Rico, in the 18th century. Early in the 19th century, 168 families lead by Luis del Carmen Echevarria began efforts that resulted in the establishement of an independent town in 1815.Today Gurabo is a progressive town of over 30,000 inhabitants, and, in addition to farming, is home to scores of modern manufacturing facilities and small businesses.

In a green field resides a widened gold patriarcal cross and represent San José saint patron of Gurabo. This cross was on Seal of Gurabo in the 19 century. The little shields, the right one represent, by a fleur de lis, the founder of Gurabo Don Luis del Carmen Echevarría and the left one represent where the founder born, Zafra Extremadura Spain, with three lilies in a natural way. The Zafra coat of arm has, in her first quarter, a vase with lilies flowers. The green color represent Gurabo. The mural crown with 3 towers represent that Gurabo is a town.
