The Flag

The new flag is at pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct): a white field with new Coat of Arms. Trujillo Alto is is in northeast Puerto Rico; it was founded in 1801 (?) and there are 61,120 Trujillanos; it is known as the pueblo of "Los Arrecostaos".
Jarig Bakker, 5 Febuary 2000

The Coat ofArms as well as the flag were changed by the present municipal administration by means of Ordinance 19, 1997-98 series, of May 29, 1998. The flag appears to be 8:9 in size. So I draw it that way.

Previous Flag

by Blas Delgado

I located a flag from pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct) which is the old flag, also to be found on lexjuris site, based on the old Coat of Arms. This was designed in 1973; the dots stand for the 13 provinces of the kings of Castilla y Aragón. The flag was designed in 1982 by Pedro R. Díaz, and had as motive the 'Olimpiadas Jíbaras', celebrated by the municipios.

Coat of Arms

by Nelson Román, 22 July 2004

The elements that represent the shield are: Border in Azure (Blue), with eight spurts of water in silver color in representation of the eight wards of Trujillo Alto and means the enormous water volume:  The river, the streams and the springs.  Golden Mural Crown  with five towers of the same color in representation to that it is a metropolitan city.  It was adopted on the 29 of May of 1998.  The mountains represent that it is a mountainous municipality and the Cross represents the Cross that is near Carraizo lake  in the ward of the same name.
Nelson Román, 23 September 2003

In a silver field, three green mountains, a Latin cross of blue centered above the mountains. Bordered in blue with eight spurts of water, in silver. The shield is stamped with a gold crown, heightened with five towers. Underneath the shield a banner with the inscription: Trujillo Alto. The eight water spurts represent the eight wards of the municipality and symbolize the numerous water-bearing resources of Trujillo Alto like the Grande de Loíza River, the numerous springs, the gorges and the Carraízo Lake. The mountains represent the mountainous topography of the town. The Latin cross is one that is found in Carraízo, the Santa Cruz (Holy Cross).
