Shield Or an arch Azure masoned Argent flanked by two almond branches Vert fruited Gules set in pale and on a base wavy Azure a bendlet wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers(village rank) white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILAR CHÃO".

Vilar Chão was one of the six communes of Alfândega da Fé Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes ; it had 204 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 24.55 km².
