Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, in base a plough Sable, in chief a sword cross Gules (fleury and in base fitchy) flanked by two grapevines Purpure leaved Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FREGUESIA DO LAVRADIO".
Meaning:
The arms are displaying the cross of the Order of Santiago and are referring to King D. Pedro II and his vasall D. Luís de Mendonça Furtado, as the order played a major role in the local history. The grapevines and the plough are symbolizing the rural character of the commune till the middle of the 20th century. The plough furthermore is a canting element, because the commune's name is derived from "lavrar" (= ploughing). The base wavy is representing the river Tejo.
