Coat of arms

The arms are Azure in centre a throughout wall Argent, masoned Sable with portage Sable, in dexter chief a mitre Or, in sinister chief a coronet Argent. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "ALMEDINA - COIMBRA".
Meaning:
The wall is probably representing the Almedina gate. The mitre is alluding to the seat of a bishop whilst the coronet probably alludes to the Moorish heritage. I was told the unusual quartered flag was approved long ago, because Almedina was one of the oldest settlements of Portugal.
