It is a fairly untypical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a green and yellow quartered (town rank) field.

The arms are Argent an elm Vert eradicated and garnished Sable and flanked at dexter by a rice plant Or garnished Sable and at sinister by a lion rampant Purpure armed and langued Gules and in base a barrulet Azure. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank and white scroll
reading in black upper case letters "ULME"
Meaning:
The elm tree (German: Ulme) in these arms is a canting element: Even though "ulme" is not one of the several possible names for this three in current Portuguese ("ulmeiro" and "olmo" are), the etym, even is spurious, is evident, and the choice of the main charge reflects it.

Ulme Commune is one of the five communes of the Chamusca Municipality (q.v.); it had 1277 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 121.9 km².
