Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a pilgrim´s staff Sable in bend with a canteen Gules, hanging from its top, on sinister chief a saw Azure hafted Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "SANTIAGO DE PIÃES".
Meaning:
Staff and canteen are attributes of St. James the Elder, name giver of the commune and local patron saint. The base wavy is a representation of the Douro River, being the northern border of the commune.
