Shield Argent issuant from an abased fess wavy Azure a throughout Medieval bridge Sable masoned Argent, in chief a mitre Gules garnished Or, in base a branch of pear thrice fruited Or garnished Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "PEREIROS - CARRAZEDA DE ANSIÃES".
Meaning:
The word "pereiro" (plural: "pereiros") usually means the fruit tree of the fruit confusingly named "pero" (pre-1973 spelling: "pêro"), which is a type of apple (to cut a long story short). In this case however, these arms seem to be canting for the toponym meaning instead "pear trees", which in Portuguese is usually named "pereira" (plural: "pereiras"; fruit: "pera" or "pêra" — its female form in grammatical gender). The branch of a pear tree (Portuguese: pereira) is thus a canting element.
