The arms are Gules a representation of a tin ore crystal Argent garnished Sable and in chief two pears Or and in base a bunch of grapes Purpure held Or. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VELA GUARDA".
Meaning:
The coat of arms refers to local mining of casserite and to local agricultural products.

Vela is one of the 34 communes of Guarda Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 423 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 21,0 km².
