Variation with white shield

Loulé wrong flag image by António Martins, 6 Feb 1999

This depiction, from the Municipal website, is a good proof that you shouldn’t believe everything you see on the web. This image is a very wrong depiction of the flag of Loule. I should know — Loulé is at about 10 km from where I’m writing and I’ve seen the flag in the cloth (and photos of it). It also proves that even municipal websites bring wrong information and/or pictures. If I recall correctly, this site had been reported already a long time ago. Sad that it remains the same…

Unofficial flags

Current logo flag?

I failed so far to see the new logo on a flag. It is also triangular, but follows more closely the new trends of “logology”, that is, is a bunch of seemingly hand-drawn lines and shapes. If it comes out to be included in a flag, I assume it will be a white flag, since that is the colour that gets a better harmony with the thing.

Previous logo flag

The old logo on bedsheet is a blue field with "TERRA DE LOULÉ" in white capitals below a triangular logo showing a stylized landscape of the region.

Vale do Lobo

[Vale do Lobo resort] 2:3 image by Jorge Candeias, 10 Feb 2007

I found a photo in the edition of 26th August 2006 of the Público newspaper. It was illustrating an article about a trick used by the management of the Vale do Lobo resort to make its customers believe that the resort's beach maintained the blue flag of beach quality, when in fact it had been lost due to an accident that caused a sewage discharge to the beach: in replacement of the blue flag, they decided to hoist two EU flags, which have, as we know, the same background colour.
The photo shows a view of the Vale do Lobo beach. Vale do Lobo is one of the most upscale resorts in the Algarve, taking its name (which means "wolf's valley") from the small valley the main resort's area is built on and from the homonymous beach. Facing the sea, you can see a set of 4 flags, two of which are EU flags, and the other two are a gyronny flag and another flag with a light plain background.
The gyronny flag isn't easily identifiable, but given the context it's probably the Loulé municipal flag, since Vale do Lobo is part of the territory of that municipality.
The other one is the flag of the resort, and since I've seen it in the cloth, I know it's white with the Vale do Lobo logo in the centre. The logo consists of an orange disc containing the name of the resort in a strange font, over three wavy lines in blue, orange and green (probably referring to the three points of attraction of the resort: the sea, the beach and the inland green, including some pretty famous golf courses) and, again, the resort's name below, this time in an ordinary sans seriffed black font.
