Shield Gules a local rabelo sailship Or with its sail Argent, loaded with casks Sable, issuant from base wavy Argent ,charged with a barrulet
wavy Azure, on chief two keys crossed saltirewise with one Or bendwise over the or Argent and the pair ties with a ribbon Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bénard Guedes style, reading in black upper case serifed letters "SAMODÃES".
Meaning:
The keys are attributes of St. Peter, the local patron saint. The base wavy is a representation of the Douro River. The ship is atypical ancient transporter of wines and port wines down the river.
