Coat of Arms

Shield Or, issuant from base a mount Vert, crowned by an embattled tower Argent with port and windows Or, flanked by two triplets of wheat ears Vert tied Gules, in chief a lyre Gules. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE TAVARES (CHÃS, VÁRZEA E TRAVANCA)".
Meaning:
Tower and lyre are representing former Travanca Commune, the wheat ears former Várzea Commune.

Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, an embattled tower Argent masoned Sable, flanked by two lyres Or stringed Sable, in chief a 6-point star Or Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "VÁRZEA DE TAVARES".
Meaning:
The star is an attribute of St. Mary, the local patron saint. The tower is representing the settlement Torre de Tavares, which together with Vila Cova de Tavares and Várzea de Tavares proper formed the former commune.

Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, two triplets of wheat ears Vert tied Gules and ordered per fess, in chief an orb Azure fixed Argent, issuant from base a watermill's wheel Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "TRAVANCA DE TAVARES".
Meaning:
The orb is an attribute of Jesus Christ, as the Divine Saviour being the local patron saint. The wheat ears are representing agriculture. Base wavy and demi-wheel are representing the past time mills at Lodares River.
