The shield is displaying a scene in B/W from local São Brás Mountain, where is located the Manor of the Bishops (Port.: "Quinta dos Bispos"). The scene shows a crucifix of stone at dexter chief and an incomplete sculpture of an ancient warrior or mythical hero, having a lyon's face, the so called "Man of Maça". There are different theories about the sculpture. Some say, it would be from the Roman period. Others say, it was erected in the 16th century as a decoration of the gardens of the manor. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DE SANTA CRUZ DO BISPO". See more details e.g. here. Please note that my colouring was made arbitrarily!
