Meaning:
The pine tree - Appears as a symbol of vegetation endogenous and majority of the parish. When he was torn off, aims to translate the strength of the inhabitants of this southern part of the county of Pampilhosa da Serra, a strength that has been required of them for centuries to make a living each day in an area of rugged land and not very fertile. Green, of course, represents the natural colour of that tree and at the same time the dominant tone of the landscape, along with the depletion of slate, blue represents the sky and the local rivers. As for the gold pine cones, as it is good to see the richness that comes from this forest species. Towards In addition to the economic wealth, the gold-painted pine cones represent nobility, constancy and power.
The bees represent beekeeping in the local pine forests.
The masoned base represents the Cabril dam, abasin that creates another of the great riches of the parish of Portela do Fojo: the huge mass of water accumulated at the bottom of its slopes, fruit of the rivers Zêzere and Unhais. The fact that the masonry is painted red heraldically translates Victories, Gambles and Wars, characteristics that were necessary for man to be able to harness the intense force of those two rivers and to build, in the 1950s the hydroelectric use of the Cabril.
