Shield Gules a basket Or containing various fruit Proper, on chief the cross of the Order of Malta. Mural crown Argent with
three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILARINHO DOS FREIRES".
Meaning:
The phrase "vilarinho dos freires" means something like "hamlet of the monks"; the latter were Hospitalliers from the above mentioned order back in the 1300s, thus the arms are partly canting.

Vilarinho dos Freires is one of the four communes of Peso da Régua Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes ; it had 729 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 12,83 km².
