Coat of arms

Shield Gules, an eagle Or with spread wings between two bars wavy Argent both charged with a barrulet wavy Azure, in chief a heraldic rose Argent barbed and seeded Vert. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "ARDEGÃO - PONTE DE LIMA".
Meaning:
The rose probably is an attribute of Our Lady of Expectation, the local patron saint.

Shield Azure, an ash tree eradicated Or at dexter and a tower Argent masoned Sable with port and windows Gules at sinister, in base two ears of wheat Or crossed per saltire. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FREIXO - PONTE DE LIMA".
Meaning:
The ash tree (Port.: freixo) is a canting element.

It is a fairly typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field .

The arms are Argent a grill Azure set per pale and two oak branches Vert fruited Or all set in chevron. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "MATO - PONTE DE LIMA".
Meaning:
"Mato" means bush, which may be canting for the oak branches. Perennial, thorny bush named carrascal very often in Portugal consists of thorny shrub Kermes Oak (Latin: Quercus coccifera). The grill stands for St. Lawrence, Catholic patron of the commune (or rather of the Catholic parish from which the commune was devised). The coat of arms (and the flag) was devised by Carlos Alberto Mouteira Fernandes. Authorship information is not given in the official sources.
