Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bérnard Guedes style, with black inscription "PRAINHA".
Meaning:
The base wavy with green waves is representing the Atlantic Ocean. The sperm whale is symbolising the local tradition of whaling and is the most charismatic animal of the archipelago. During its golden era, when there existed many whales in the sea around the Azores, whaling had been the most important business line to earn the living of the local people. The wheat ear is representing economic activities, especially agriculture. The distaffs are representing local arts and crafts, especially weaving.
