Shield Gules, a shrine Or containing a bloodstained host in a jar Argent, the shrine is flanked by two water meters Argent, beneath a fessy sword Argent hilted Or, in base a bar wavy Argent superimposed by a barrulet wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "SANTARÉM - MARVILA".
Meaning:
The sword was captured from/by (?) the Moors. The water meters in the past were regulating the hours of work in the fields. They were positioned on top of the clock tower. The shrine is alluding to a medieval miracle, which took place in Santarém. The bar wavy is representing Tejo River. The red colour is symbolizing victory, life and boldness. Draft designed according to suggestions of José Bènard Guedes.

Coat of arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a belfry issuant Argent with window Gules crowned by a Latin cross, over all a palm leaf paly Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "SANTA IRIA DA RIBEIRA DE SANTARÉM".
Meaning:
Belfry and base wavy are together symbolizing a fountain emanating from an alcove. The palm is symbolizing the martyrdom of St. Iria, the local patron saint. Draft designed by José Bènard Guedes.

Shield Argent, a broken chain fessy, in chief an imperial globe Azure fixed Or and crowned by a crosslet latin Or Sable, in base an open book Argent bound Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "SANTARÉM - SÃO SALVADOR".
Meaning:
The orb is an attribute of the Divine Saviour, the local patron saint. The book is representing the many communal schools. The broken chain reminds on Margrave of Sá da Flag, who abolished local slavery. He was born and baptized in the commune and was buried in Santarém. Draft designed by José Bènard Guedes.

The arms are Argent a book Gules charged with three balls Or ordered 1:2 and crowned by a mitre Purpure garnished and lined Or, in base two olive branches Vert fruited Sable with stems crossed per saltire. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "SANTARÉM - S. NICOLAU".
Meaning:
"São Nicolau" is "St. Nicolas" and refers to the conterminous catholic parish patron and name. The arms are canting, including saint's attributes: mitre, book and three golden balls.
