Coat of arms

The shield is Argent, a bend wavy of the same fimbriated Azure between two crescents Gules pointing upwards. Mural crown Argent with five visible towers (city rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters «CIDADE DE ALVERCA DO RIBATEJO» (left image) or simply «ALVERCA DO RIBATEJO» (right image).
António Martins-Tuválkin, 16 June 2002

Meaning:
The crescents are symbolizing the former (Moorish) civilization, the efforts of D. Afonso Henriques, who conquered the region bit by bit. The red colour is symbolizing fire, war and victories. The blue bends are symbolizing the many local water courses, the base of the commune's wealth.
