About the Flag

It is a quite typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a white and black quartered (town rank) field.

The coat of arms is gules, a tower argent open sable between four bunches of grapes of the same. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE VINHAIS".
Meaning:
The coat of arms is partly canting, as "vinhais" is one of many words meaning "vineyards".
