William Pokhlyobkin’s proposal
image by Victor Lomantsov, 05 Mar 2002
In the last year I have read in the newspaper
Nezavisimaya Gazeta big
article of William Pokhlyobkin (historian-scandinavist, author of
several books about cooking (!) & symbolic etc., etc.) with her
proposition for new flag of Russia: red background (because only red is
russian national colour), in center — big golden star (= Russian people,
because it hasn’t own national state, for ex. "Russian republic"), by
circle — small golden stars (by number of subjects
of federation, I don’t understand — national
republic only or all subjects). Very similar with idea of
European Union.
Andrey Jashlavwskij, 28 Jan 1999
Famous writer William Pokhlyobkin (author of Vocabulary of symbols and
emblems in russian). He was against the tricolor.
Probably, 21 stars symbolize 21 authonom. republics
of Russia.

Andrew Khlobystin’s proposal
image by Victor Lomantsov, 05 Mar 2002
This project of national flag was published in 1997 by Andrew Khlobystin
in newspaper Khudozhestvennaya volya. The flag is red with 10 white
peas. Meaning:
- Red — colour of Byzantine monarchy (if you are monarchist),
revolution (if you are communist),
unity, blood of heroes.
- Peas — magical symbol of pagan period, mythical imperial dynasty
of Tsar’ Gorokh (Carh Goroq | Царь
Горох), Czar of Peas.
Fortunately, nobody has accepted this project seriously.
