From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"Gules; or patriarchal cross accompanied in base by or half moon. The shield enframed by or cartouche and crowned by or village crown. The author is E.Chernets'kyi.
In symbolics uses old Ukrainian emblem of survival in struggle against Tatars (the orthodox cross above a half moon). The contents of an emblem emphasizes gules colour of a board and panel; it is symbol of courage and bravery.

The Village

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"Ancient surnames old village families testify, that Pischana has gone through tatar attacks XVI century and the 1648-1654 war. From the list of families of 1652 and list of the village inhabitants in 1815 obviously, that at least three families not only have survived, but also have saved up patrimonial memory: Hrycenky (in 1652 was mentioned Fes'ko Hrychyshyn), Chorni-Chornenky (in 1652 - Maksym Chornyi) and Yastreby (in 1652 - Yas'ko Yastrems'kyi)."
