The Flag

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"It was confirmed in April, 20th, 2000 by the decision #11/1 of city council session. Rectangular panel with a parity of width to the length as 2:3 consists of three vertical strips - green, yellow and green (a parity of their width is equal to 3:4:3), in the middle of a yellow strip is the shield with the city emblem.
Green color means hope, well-being, freedom, yellow - force, riches, fidelity."

"was confirmed in April, 20th, 2000 by the decision #11/1 of city council session. Gules; Saint Yuri on an argent horse, in sable-vert clothes and an argent raincoat, with or nimbus around of a head, beats by an or spear the vert snake, in the dexter corner is argent paty cross. The shield enframed by or cartouche and crowned by argent urban crown with three prongs. The author is M.Dzey.
Saint Yuri was the patron of Luboml' churche which was constructed in 1287. The cross and a gules field emphasizes an accessory of city to Volyn'.

The City

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"The first mention in Ipatii chronicle refers to 1287. In 1264 there was constructed Saint Yuri's stone church which exists now. There was one of the greatest libraries of theological books. In 1392 there was the Polish king Vladyslav Yagailo. The city has liked him, and in 1412 he constructed the church which exists now.
In 1541 was granted the Magdebourg right. In 1569, after Lublin Union, the city was a part of the Holm land. In 1659 city was the property of Ukrainian het'man Ivan Vyhovs'kyi. Other hetman - Pavlo Teterya - in 1660 was the city manager. Since 1768 Lyuboml' was property of the big Polish magnate K.Branyts'kyi. In 1782 he built the large palace which exists now. In 1874 was built the railway (Kovel'-Maceiv-Lyuboml')."
