The flag of Junction City took full effect by city ordinance on January 28,
1977. This is because the ordinance, which passed three days earlier, said that
it would take full force once it was published in the Junction City Daily Union
newspaper.
The flag is yellow and uses the city seal, still in effect by
the ordinance and flying at the Buffalo Soldier Monument. It appears the flag is
credited to Jack Lacey, director of the city-county economic development
commission at the time, because he was the one who made arrangements for the
purchase of the flag. The flag's proportions are 3:5.

The seal was adopted on July 7, 1970. Official description according to the
ordinance which adopts this seal: "A circular emblem in which the words 'City of
Junction City, Kansas, 1859', shall be inscribed. Within this emblem is an
American eagle holding crossed American and Kansas flags. In the center is a
shield divided by bands depicting the confluence of the Republican and Smoky
Hill Rivers. There is a sail boat, crossed sabers, and a sheaf of wheat behind a
steer's head in each patch of the shield. On each side of this shield is a
buffalo. The background is landscaped with Rimrock foot hills."
