Have you noticed our new city logo? With construction of the new Civic Center underway including planning for signage and wayfinding, the time is right for a fresh new image. The city is also moving forward on redevelopment of the waterfront and updating the Downtown Master Plan.
Local design firm Milltown Creative created the new logo that honors our past and looks to the future. In discussions with focus groups, Marysville's best attributes came up repeatedly: Friendly, small community; waterfront access; proximity to outdoor recreation (mountains, rivers and Puget Sound).
Milltown's co-founder and principal, Tyler Chism, a Marysville Pilchuck High School graduate, explains how those values informed the design: "The logo mark now incorporates three significant landscape elements that help represent the city of Marysville. These elements include mountains, evergreen trees and the riverfront. We also changed the badge shape to a circle crest which helps unify the elements and stays away from badge shapes that might look similar to a police badge. By simplifying the elements in the circle crest, the logo becomes easier to read while maintaining visual appeal. The overall look and execution of the circle crest logo mark was created to stand out while capturing the essence of the city through the natural elements represented in the logo."
The new logo is being rolled out slowly with a complete changeover by the time the Civic Center opens in 2022.

The flag of the City of Marysville, Washington, is white with city logo on it. At the end of the fly 5 vertical stripes - blue-white-black(?)-white-blue, the last is much wider then the others. Information and photo of the flag thanks to Doug Buell, Public Information Officer.

The flag above has stripes at the fly. Seen flying in this flickr photo by yahakum: www.flickr.com/photos/10933988@N06/5016350483, is the reverse of the flag. It appears that this is a two sided flag, as the stripes are at the hoist.
