The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission was created in 1947 as the
state government agency responsible for overseeing North Carolina's efforts to
conserve and sustain the state's fish and wildlife resources, as well as
enforcing fishing, hunting, and boating regulations. The NCWRC also oversees and
administers the various wildlife sanctuaries and education centers throughout

The Commission's flag can be seen in several photographs online, and I
saw it in person flying at the Outer Banks Wildlife Education Center in Corolla,
North Carolina, during our recent hurricane-shortened vacation. The flag
features a simplified version of the Commission's green diamond-shaped logo
centered on a gold field within a green orle. The logo is a green diamond with
two thin gold horizontal lines approximately one-third and two-thirds of the way
from the top of the diamond, and with the word "Wildlife" written in a gold
cursive script across the center of the diamond. The normal logo, worn as a
patch on Commission officers' uniforms, also contains the words "NORTH CAROLINA"
and "RESOURCES COMMISSION" in the upper and lower thirds of the diamond,
respectively.
