Description of the flag
National Recovery Month (Recovery Month), which started in 1989, is a
national observance held every September to promote and support new
evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nation’s strong
and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers
and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible. It is
also known as International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD).
A similar occasion is commemorated in Canada named "Recovery Day"
(official website: http://www.recoveryday.ca) since 2012.
The symbol used is a purple background flag "to spread awareness and
positive messaging about recovery from problematic substance use".

The flag is a purple horizontal background in general. In particular
though, the flag presented uses a green dot with a purple arrow
pointing eastwards on the canton and inside the words "recovery" and
below "friendly", followed by a lowercase "r" and below a white semi
circle, resembling a smiley face separated by a vertical white line
and the inscription "NATIONAL" (in blue capitals on top) "RECOVERY"
(in white bold capitals) below and "MONTH" (in white bold capitals)
below as well. On the bottom corner towards the fly, the SOS Recovery
Community Organization (official website: https://sosrco.org) logo
is displayed.
