The Baltimore Motor Yacht Club is listed in Lloyd's Register of American
Yachts, 1912, as organised and incorporated in 1908; station: Ferry Bar,
Baltimore -- Patapsco River. According to Motorboating of November 1908, it was
organised on 28 October 198, on the same day as the Maryland Motor Boat
Association. The club started with about 15 members.
The club's burgee is
depicted as a ca 2:3 triangle, black before red, separated by a yellow diagonal
band, 1/3rd of the hoist in width, placed under an angle of 30 degrees with the
hoist, and so that the band's upper edge starts in the lower hoist corner. In
the top hoist corner a white sans capital B, approximately 1/4th of the hoist
high.
The last mention I could find for the club is the listing in the
Annual report of the Maryland State Board of Labor and Statistics for 1921. It
appears that, as was true for more power boat clubs, when once the novelty of
power boating was over the club did not survive.
