The flag

A few days ago I saw this "flag" on the back of a tour bus at the Manitoba Legislature, the tour bus indicated that it was from the Peguis First Nation, a native reserve in central Manitoba. It looks like it could very well be the flag of the reserve. I have no idea of the colour symbolism - I can guess that the red circle stands for the people, but that's about it.
David Kendall - 09 April 1999

As I understand it, the significance of the flag is in reference to the treaties...

Yellow = As long as the sun shines
Green = As long as the grass grows
Blue = As long as the rivers flow
Red = people
Shirley Malcolm, 20 March 2000

The three colors represent the signing of the treaties and how long the treaties would last.

Yellow stands for as long as the sun shines.
Green stands for as long as the grass grows
Blue stands for as long as the river flows
the red circle represents the circle of life and the red people (aboriginal) the lines separating the colors represents the two nations that signed the treaties and that neither would try to dominate the other.
