Translated from the municipal website: "Made of two stripes; the first being blue and 1.50 m in length by 0.60 in height, symbolizing the sky and the hydrical resources; the second being white and 1.50 m in length by 0.60 in height, symbolizing serenity and peace. The two stripes form a flag of 1.50 m in length by 1.20 m in height, which shall be hoisted for all the public events and sepcial days of the municipality.
Background (from the municipal website): The municipality of Sopó (15,300 inhabitants; 115.5 sq. km; elevation 2,650 m a.s.l.) is located in the department of Cundinamarca, 39 km of Bogóta. It includes the following settlements:Hatogrande, Aposentos, Pueblo Viejo, Carolina, Centro Alto, Gratamira, Meusa, San Gabriel, Mercenario, Piedra Herrada, Agua Caliente, Comuneros,Violeta, Chuscal, Bellavista, El Mirador y and La Diana. The municipality was founded on 25 May 1653 by Friar Francisco Chacón. Its name means "Piedra o cerro fuerte" in Chibcha language.
