Lichtenau Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Or a demi-eagle Sable, armed and tongued Gules and couped per pale; at sinister bendy of six of Gules and Argent; base parted per fess of Gules, Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
Otto Hupp claimed this pattern as arms of the market town erroneously around 1925. Since 1937 it was used as town seal. Indeed it had been the arms of a district of the Free Imperial City of Nürnberg with other order of tinctures in base. The pattern was known from seals and paintings from the 17th century. The base is referring to the arms of the Lords of Heideck, who owned town and castle from 188 until the 15th century. Above are the lesser arms of Nürnberg, their legal successor.

The arms were adopted in 1937 by the local council and confirmed on 1 April 1964 by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
